Start

First foray into this medium. I am amazed, or at least dumbfounded by the course our society has taken. I have to admit, I am reading SHOCK DOCTRINE by Naomi Klein, and I find myself in a state of shock and awe at what she brings out in this book. I am in a state of stasis, brought about by the constant realization that the country we live in has engaged in acts that are true crimes against humanity, fueled by a unconscionable quest for material gain, with a TOTAL disregard for anything resembling an ethical posture. I am trying to digest all that I am reading but find myself unable to fully grasp how a country that supposedly prides itself on realization of human potential could allow the elected leaders of this country to involve themselves, and profit from acts so horrific. I am going to keep this short as this is my beginning of trying to sort out everything I have been reading. Is this a civilized culture, or have we gotten so indulgent in our personal lack of ethics that we no longer care about doing the right thing? Our elected officials are criminals in every sense of the word. They have eliminated every basic tenant of humanity in their ongoing quest to reshape the world into a place of fear as opposed to an evolving sense of progress. I am saddened by what I have read, but also feel a driving sense of making their outrages apparent. Will the new administration affect the slash and burn dogma that has evolved in the past or are we kidding ourselves to think that this system could provide us with alternatives under the guise of our political system? I think it may be so corrupted that no one can rise above the constraints.
